Experiencing Tranquility and Opulence at Jetwing Saman, a Serene Haven Amidst Sri Lanka’s Breathtaking Landscapes

The Indian version of the highly acclaimed show The Night Manager is on the verge of releasing its second season. The seven-episode, two-part series gives us a glimpse into some brilliantly picturesque places across the globe, one of them being Shailendra (Anil Kapoor) and Kaveri’s (Sobhita Dhulipala) oasis in Sri Lanka. The thrilling plot also comes with its fair share of stunning visuals; this mysterious place in Sri Lanka with its private beach, sumptuous sea views and infinity pools seems very irresistible.

Nestled on a cliff that extends into the vast expanse of the Indian Ocean sits the Jetwing Saman Villas. Surrounded by lush coconut plantations, this is the property that the OTT couple calls home. This elegant hotel, with its understated charm, is conveniently situated just a few steps away from the pristine white sands of Bentota Beach. This boutique hotel offers a luxurious experience and is situated in the tranquil fishing village of Aruwella, along the western coast of the island.

The hotel features 26 suites and a duplex villa, all offering breathtaking views of the Indian Ocean, a coconut plantation, an infinity pool, a rejuvenating spa, and two exclusive beaches. The suites are designed to provide utmost comfort and indulgence, equipped with outdoor bathtubs, private pools, and sun decks. These amenities and the idyllic coastal surroundings make it an ideal destination for a sunny coastal getaway.

Brainchild of Daya Ratnayake and architect Geevaka de Soyza, the vision was to create an open-plan hotel and must I say that the duo nailed it. Hashan Cooray, Director of Marketing and Development, at Jetwing Hotels, says ‘‘The initial plan was to build a 78-room hotel. But the team soon realized that this kind of large construction would be at odds with the serene nature of the surroundings. So, they pivoted to the current 27-room plan. The whole idea was to build a luxurious, yet tranquil space where people can enjoy a tropical getaway with absolute bliss.”

The resort effortlessly combines contemporary luxury with the timeless allure of its natural environment, creating a captivating design that delights the senses. Guests are welcomed into a tranquil haven nestled by the Indian Ocean, where meticulous attention has been given to every architectural and design element. Upon arrival, visitors are immediately captivated by an entrance that is visually striking and serves as a preview of the resort’s overall design concept.

The resort’s design philosophy embraces the use of natural materials such as timber, stone, and thatch, creating an atmosphere that exudes warmth and comfort. The incorporation of these elements establishes a strong connection with the surrounding natural environment. The clean lines and open spaces throughout the resort also contribute to a sense of contemporary sophistication and elegance. It is the perfect marriage of modern luxury and timeless allure.

The architectural design of the villas embraces an open-air concept, allowing for ample natural light and ventilation. Large windows and sliding glass doors blur the boundaries between the indoor and outdoor spaces, providing breathtaking views of the ocean and surrounding greenery. This seamless integration with nature creates a sense of harmony and tranquillity, immersing guests in the beauty of their surroundings.
